Are you the next big thing in the fashion world? Has it been your life-long dream to be as happening as Stella McCartney? Well this could be your chance ladies, Strictly Come Dancing designer Gert-Johan Coetzee is looking for a special person to follow in his footsteps!
One lucky winner will be gifted with a R168 000 bursary that covers tuition and study materials for a three-year BA Fashion Design degree course at North West School of Design, where Coetzee graduated from in 2005. The bursary also includes both a sewing machine and an overlocker from Bernina valued at R33 000. You will also be mentored by the talented designer who has custom made dresses for Hollywood stars such as Kourtney Kardashian.
“I want to pass on this same opportunity to someone young, talented and hungry for success,” says Coetzee, whose out-of-this-world gowns are often seen on the red carpet both locally and internationally. All previous winners have gained major exposure in the fashion industry and last year’s winner, Quincy Thabang, who has nearly completed his first year says it has been an amazing experience so far!
How to enter?
To enter you need to submit a motivating essay and sketches of four red-carpet gowns according to the theme “15 Shades of Style”. Candidates also need to have a National Senior Certificate or an international equivalent.
