Eighty artists. Six days. Jo’burg’s best venues. It’s the much-anticipated Red Bull Music Festival and the line-up is sick AF.
Expect the likes of Shekinah, Zoe Modiga, DJ Oskido, Patty Monroe and 76 other South African chart-toppers across genres like dance, kwaito, jazz and hip-hop. 2018 is going to be a kickass year for this iconic festival and the hype is contagious.
The festival will kick off on Tuesday, 3 April – the party’s at 73 Juta Street, with artists like Langa Mavuso paying tribute to Mzansi’s rich musical heritage; on Wednesday night, peeps will be coming together at one of Jozi’s busiest jazz venues, The Orbit; on Thursday, things will heat up at the Newtown Music Factory; on Friday, four different venues will showcase four musical themes – you can pick your flavour; 1 Fox Street hosts the main event on Saturday; and then it all comes together at mega-club Zone 5 on Sunday.
The Red Bull Music Festival is a global celebration of 20 years of the Red Bull Music Academy – a world-travelling series of music workshops and festivals. The festival takes place in other locations across the globe, including Los Angeles, New York City and Paris. It’s a vibe. Don’t miss it.
