How to Take Killer Selfies with your Huawei P20 Pro

#socialenvy much?

It’s official. The Huawei P20 Pro has smashed sales records in South Africa compared to its predecessor, the Huawei P10 series. And we’re right there in the front lines, swooning over this smartphone like a bunch of loved-up teen boppers.

BTW ICYMI, the #HuaweiCoverstar competition was everything. 19-year-old winner Eleanne Maake took over the inside cover of the June issue of COSMO and won her very own Huawei P20 Pro smartphone. There were lights, cameras, action and serious slayage.

On the #HuaweiCoverstar shoot, we caught up with COSMO videographer, Valentina Nicol, who told us why she’s crushing on this lit AF device.

Here’s What Valentina Had to Say About the P20 Pro:

We played around with the P20 Pro on set, discovering its fire functions. In particular, we tried out different functions for taking the perfect selfie. Here are three tips for flaunting your face using the Huawei P20 Pro.

Use 3D Portrait Lighting

No lights? Don’t sweat it. The Huawei P20 Pro has a built-in 3D Portrait Lighting feature that is driven by AI. It has the unique ability to follow the contours of your features and adjust the image for the most flattering selfies. Simply enable the Portrait mode when you take a selfie and select from a range of studio-quality lighting effects like soft, butterfly, stage and classic.

Say Cheese

You know TMW you totes were not ready and your finger slipped and took a blurred selfie (or three) while you shuffled around trying to get into position. Well, the Huawei P20 pro has a solution. In the front camera mode, go to settings and enable ‘Audio Control’. Now smile and say cheese! Literally. When this setting is on, the smartphone takes a photo when you say the word ‘cheese’!

We love the fact that the Huawei P20 pro has thought of everything. It’s even thought of how best to capture your best feature – your smile. This revolutionary smartphone has a ‘Capture smiles’ mode. With this mode, the smartphone takes the photo when it detects a smile. We suggest playing around with this mode when taking group selfies – things are bound to get interesting.
