Good old winter is coming in cold and what better way to beat the chill than to wrap up in this season’s tip-top trends (which ICYDK are extra AF). From OTT feathering and statement headgear to unusually-shaped shoes, this year’s winter trends are a fabulous force to be reckoned with.
These Are The 7 Winter Trends You Need To Know About For 2019:
It’s no longer about wearing your gran’s old chunky knit, but about raiding her closet (and jewellery box) to get your hands on all things tweed and twinkling *bling-bing*. Think Chanel-esque tweed and cardigans which are fashion’s new hot knit. And remember kitten heels? Yeah, those are totally a thing again – dubbed, ‘grandma heels’. Move over daddy, it’s granny’s time to shine!
2 Feathers ‘n Fluff
Fur weighing you down? Fly away in feather-trimmed cuffs, f-covered footwear, handbags, and headgear. Did you see how many celebs wore feathers on the red carpet at the Met Gala this year? We could’ve sworn the theme was ‘birds of a feather’ and not ‘CAMP’.
3 Cinched Suiting
Set the standards and serve up your best empowered work-girl lewk in a tailored suit set and cinch it with a fab belt or belt bag. Or, if the jacket allows for it – tuck it in!

4 High-shine Patent
High-shine patent aka vinyl is very much alive and well for winter 2019 and we’re dubbing it the must-have material of the season. A bit hesitant to try out this Matrix-esque trend? Try dipping your toe in the pot and try out a pair o’ patent boots or a handbag.
5 Power Shoulders
Take a step back (all the way into the ’80s) and get inspired by this wide-shoulder slim-waist silhouette which is giving 21-century power dressing one serious update. There will be no cold shoulder felt (or given) in this shapeshifter.
6 Fun Faux Fur
Faux fur is the perfect winter warmer, and we have the conscious consumer to thank for making it BIG again this season. What’s *even* better is that we’re seeing more and more namesake designers declare that they will no longer use real fur within their collections, including Versace, Michael Kors and Gucci, to name a few.
7 Cow Print
Guys, LBH – street style has started turning into an actual zoo. From acid-hued leopard spots to snakeskin and zebra, animal print has brought out the animal farm inside of us. But mooove over, leopard print, it’s now time to take this print battle to *cattle*.
