The Fashion Habits We're Giving Up This 2019

Tis the season to reflect on yesteryears’ fashion faux-pas.

With the arrival of the new year, it’s only natural that we’re aiming to start off on the right note! Resolutions and wardrobe clean outs – sure – but, do we ever stop and think about our past fashion foes? Perhaps not.

From wearing too much black (guilty) to shopping too much (also, guilty), read about the 2018 fashion faux-pas our #COSMOStyle team will be ditching in the new year. And, ofc, do a little shopping on the way.

Here Are the Fashion Habits The #COSMOStyle Team Are Giving Up This 2019:

Cleo Marcopoulos – Senior Fashion Editor

‘This 2019 I want to try shopping a little less, and more consciously. My goal is start embracing slow fashion and to support local brands and designers more and more. Less clutter, more quality – and a more sustainable approach to fashion.’

Supporting local brands is a great way to buy into slow fashion as the products are ethically sourced and sustainably produced.

‘I say this every year but this 2019, I’d like to wear a little less black. I’m not saying I want to wear a fruit salad concoction of tutti frutti shades head-to-toe, but rather to slowly introduce more colour to my everyday looks.’

And why not start with Pantone’s colour of the year, coral?

‘Confession time, I do not own a good handbag and often resort to carrying a wallet, but I’m vowing to put an end to that in 2019 and invest in perfect one!’

When looking for a handbag opt for a darker colour as it is less likely to look damaged even if it has been thrown on the floor all year long.

‘I want to start mixing patterns and prints. I used to think I should only focus on one wow-factor garment but now I’m like, “what the hell!” let’s mix stripes with animal prints.’

When dabbling with print-clashing make sure you pick prints in similar tones, for a more cohesive look – otherwise you could end up looking cray-cray.

‘I often find myself resorting to my good old faithful black jeans for a night out. This year I would like to try new alternatives.’

Culottes are a great way to stay comfy on a night out and look chic AF! If you are feeling adventurous opt for a wild print.
