Yesterday saw the sensational debut of Rihanna’s new high-fashion Fenty collection in collaboration with LVMH and it has us (and the entire internet) all fired up.
The legendary pop star, creative director for women’s collections at Puma, generator of gender and size-inclusive lingerie brand Savage x Fenty and revolutioniser of the makeup world with Fenty Beauty *stops to breathe*, Rihanna, will now be the first black women in history to head up a luxury fashion house. #workworkwork

What’s nearly more exciting than the collection itself is the fact that the entire campaign was shot by our very own – female South-African photographer, Kristin-Lee Moolman. Uh, you GO girl! How cool is that?
Kirstin, who is originally from Joburg, has been making waves in the fashion world internationally by snapping some super cool gigs for brands including Vogue, American Apparel, Edun and Samsung.

Rihanna explained to T-Magazine what she envisions for the brand and gives them a first look at some of the garments, which were of course inspired by her very own wardrobe:
‘I use myself as the muse. It’s sweatpants with pearls or a masculine denim jacket with a corset. I feel like we live in a world where people are embracing every bit of who they are. Look at Jaden Smith, Childish Gambino. They dare you to tell them not to.’
The collection looks to include soft-pastel tones mixed with denim, camel-hued suit separates, corset insets, calf-skin leather shoes and brass-toned accessories.
Rihanna continues to stay loyal to all-inclusive sizing as her new clothing line will go up to a size American 14 (which is UK16).
‘I’m thick and curvy right now, and so if I can’t wear my own stuff then, I mean, that’s not gonna work, right?’
Prices, on the other hand, will not be as inclusive, ranging from R11 700 for the Japanese corset denim dress, R16 000 for the pink cotton canvas suit jacket and R16 000 for matching corset blazer dress, and for the tan suit, R7000 for pleated trousers and R16 000 for the jacket.
