- Alright, guys. There’s a rumour going around that Meghan Markle isn’t allowed to borrow certain royal jewels because she’s not important enough in the royal family.
- It’s definitely not true, and Prince Harry is pissed about it.
Yesterday, The Sun published a fairly crazy report that said because Meghan Markle is lower in the royal pecking order, the queen forbid her from wearing certain jewellery made famous by Princess Diana, which is absurd.
Today, Express made it clear that those rumours are not only far from the truth, but also Prince Harry is really pissed about them. Rightfully so, TBH.
‘There is anger that these claims circulating are simply not true,’ a source told the outlet. ‘They are rightly incensed.’
Did you hear that? Rightly incensed!! I think that’s British for ‘really f*cking pissed.’
Another source was quick to point out that actually, Queen Elizabeth has let Meghan borrow jewellery on more than one occasion. For the royal wedding, Meghan got to wear one of the queen’s tiaras.
‘It is worth noting that the queen lent Meghan a tiara for the wedding, gave her earrings for her first royal engagement, and had just agreed to partly fund her new household,’ the source said.
This isn’t the first time Harry’s gotten pissed about some Meghan rumours. Just last month, there was a report that Meghan’s staff called her ‘Me-Gain’ behind her back (which isn’t even that funny), and a source promptly shut down that rumour too.
Dickie Arbiter, who was the queen’s press secretary once upon a time, spoke to Nine News Australia and explained Harry’s reaction to those rumours.
‘He would be angry that something like this is coming out,’ he said. ‘You have got to remember too…I mean, you were here for the wedding and you saw how the media were operating. They were putting Meghan and Harry right up on a pedestal. Since the end of summer in the autumn, they have been chipping away at those pedestals and really having a go.’
Basically, he reminded everyone that bad news sells tabloids, so taking these rumours with a grain of salt is v important. Noted!
A quick reminder of the last time famous people argued over jewellery:
