South Africa’s most acclaimed fashion designer David Tlale launched his first ever bridal collection in collaboration with Boschendal this weekend. And (spoiler alert!) it’s incredible!
The collection was revealed during a two day event at Boschendal Wine Estate, held not only to showcase David’s exquisite new collection but to also celebrate the launch of Boschendal’s new Demi Sec Méthode Cap Classique (MCC).
Tlale says, ‘The Demi Sec is the ideal Cap Classique to add a touch of glamour and sophistication to any celebration – and what is more celebratory than a wedding? They are a perfect pair.’
The Experience, in association with Courvoisier, kicked off on Saturday, 14 April with a picnic-style lunch and lavish gala dinner at the Olive Press, hosted by David himself. It was the perfect prelude to the unveiling of his first ever bridal collection the following afternoon.
The collection, which breaks the traditional mould of a bridal collection, is made up of white, ivory and pink-toned dresses adorned in beads, feathers and appliqué.
And there was menswear, too (seven look to be exact)! The perfectly tailored suits were strong and regal with the inclusion of Japanese-inspired kimonos.
A highlight of the two-day event was the unveiling of a one-of-a-kind Tlale dress inspired by the elegant new Demi Sec Cap Classique.
Shirley van Wyk, marketing manager at Boschendal, says that working with Tlale was a wonderful experience, ‘Boschendal is a proud supporter of African artists and we have long been admirers of David’s work. He brings something utterly new to the global catwalk with an aesthetic that exemplifies “beauty without pretence”. We have a shared vision to create something beautiful and authentic. Our Demi Sec attests to this – it’s time intensive to create, with our winemaker lovingly tweaking every step – much like David with his garments.’
Guests in attendance included fashion bloggers Kefilwe Mabote, Lulama Wolf, Seth Shezi and Gemaen Taylor, renowned photographer Trevor Stuurman and ultimate style icon Jackie Burger.
