- Kris Jenner hit up the 2019 Met Gala wearing a blonde bob and looking completely unrecognizable.
- Kris’ outfit was inspired by David Bowie and designed by Tommy Hilfiger.
Everyone, please move aside, because Kris Jenner has arrived on the 2019 Met Gala red carpet—only you’d barely know it, because she legit looks nothing like herself. As we all know, Kris is known for her short black hair. Buuuut not only did she wear a bob for the First Monday in May, she went platinum.
Kris’ new beauty look presumably was her attempt at ‘camp,’ which is the theme of this year’s Met Gala. And if you’re wondering why she didn’t show up in a tent, that’s because the theme isn’t camping. It’s based on Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay titled ‘Notes on “Camp,”’ in which she mused ‘the essence of Camp is its love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration.’
A blonde wig definitely counts as artifice and apparently was Kylie Jenner’s idea, who told Kris, ‘mom, there’s no black hair tonight—you’re going blonde.’ Meanwhile, Kris’ giant be-winged ‘opera coat’ by Tommy Hilfiger is just as about as extra as it gets. Kris told E! she was ‘channeling David Bowie’ and that this is how she dressed all through the ’80s, FYI.
I continue to stan a legend, bye!
