Yesterday, Kanye West’s second official fashion show for Yeezy brought out every celeb worth knowing. Kim was sitting in the front row in a beige outfit with baby North, surrounded by friends and family. The entire Kardashian-Jenner clan was there too, as well as Drake, Jaden Smith, Courtney Love, Pusha T, Miguel, Lorde and even comedian Seth Meyers. Sister-in-law Kylie Jenner had her second opportunity to walk down the runway, making her debut appearance in Kanye’s first show last year. Kanye closed the show to one of his new songs and he received a standing ovation. Guess who was standing right there next to Kim cheering him on? The king of NYFW, Givenchy’s designer Riccardo Tisci. And seated on Kim’s other side? Anna Wintour. Now that says it all. Kanye and Kim have been accepted into the fashion world’s royal court.
So why are people upset – it sounds like it all went well? Yes, but Kanye was not scheduled to show at NYFW and he didn’t have an official time slot. Kany only announced his show a week before it would take place – at the same time as other lesser-known designers who had put all their finances into preparing for their shows, planning more than a year ahead of time. Now they had to go through so many more expenses to get their shows moved to another date because there is no point in showing if all your guests are at Kanye’s show – not everyone has his pull when it comes to invites, and the designers felt they were being treated unfairly.
