Another brand has taken its brand in the direction of celebrating women and we’re here for it! Put your hands together for Converse and their ‘Love the Progress’ collection. Here’s the lowdown on this snatched sneaker collection.
1 Designed by females for females
The ‘Love the Progress’ collection, which features four eye-catching silhouettes, was designed by an all-female team of designers. The designs are inspired by the power of love, unity and community. This collection is woke AF – it’s a sign of the times. The world is seeing an undeniable resurgence in the feminist movement and there’s no two ways about it – there’s never been a more exciting time to be female.
2 It redefines the cool
The ‘Love the Progress’ collection is edgy and feminine. It features graphic prints, written messages and popping colourways. We’re crazy about the tagline: “Keep Loving, Keep Fighting.” And we’ll keep doing just that – fighting the good fight for equality. Love conquers fear yo – preach.
3 There’s always a story
The collection has had a knock-on effect and inspired the, ‘All the Stories are True.’ This campaign gave women across the globe the chance to define what it means to be a woman, in their own words. In the search for these opinions, Converse uncovered incredible stories of girls of all ages who are living lives on their own terms and inspiring other girls to do the same. Amandla!
4 These celebs are feel-good material
This international campaign features the likes of actress and activist, Millie Bobby Brown, the first hijabi ballerina, Stephanie Kurlow, self-defense instructor, Qin Yungquan, nonconformist musician, Naomi Preizler and tech expert, Kasia Gola among others. Each of these powerful women wrote her own definition of what ‘girl’ means on the iconic canvas upper of the Converse Chuck 70, bringing this classic to life in a whole new way.
Here’s what they wrote:
- Millie Bobby Brown, Actress and Activist: England – “GIRL is powerful”
- Stephanie Kurlow, Hijabi Ballerina: Australia “GIRL is influential and a risk taker’
- Qin Yungquan, Self-defense Instructor: Singaore – “GIRL is a warrior”
- Naomi Preizler, Nonconformist Musician: Argentina – “GIRL is to be human”
- Kasia Gola, Tech Expert: Poland – “GIRL is disciplined, works hard and achieves”
