For your grocery run.

These days, going to the grocery store feels like a scene out of a zombie apocalypse movie — it’s not for the faint-hearted. And LBH, that bi-weekly grocery run is non-negotiable because a lockdown without snacks is hard. Therefore, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do. Put on that mask, wear those surgical gloves and venture out into what is now ‘the real world’.

We know that during these uncertain times, going out into the public can be a little daunting. We’re all trying our best to stay safe and do our part for our country. So, we’re looking to the small things that will keep us sane and inspired during this time. Fashion is one of the ways we gain inspiration and motivation, which is why ‘quarantine fashion’ has become a thing! You’ve seen people zhoosh up their sweatpants, our eyes have been blessed with the pillow-dress challenge and we’ve even seen women cut up their bras to create face masks.

So, we thought we’d give a face mask a chic DIY spin that aids both our safety and style. We scoured the web and got some lockdown do-it-yourself realness from influencers like Brittany Xavier who inspired us to create a cloth face mask, using items we already have at home.

Check out this chic and nifty way to DIY a cloth face mask:

Follow this step-to-step process to make yours:

Let’s start off with what you need for this DIY session. We are happy to say that no glue guns, pins or sellotape are necessary. All you need is a. a bandana or scarf (you can use a cloth if you have neither) and b. two hair ties. Simple right? Here’s the good news, the steps are *just* as simple. Yay!

1 Lay down your scarf and two hair ties

mask

2 Fold the scarf towards the centre

3 Flip it over

4 Pull the scarf through the hair ties, on each end

5 Fold and tuck the edges into the centre

mask

6 Pull the hair ties and bring the mask to your mouth

mask

Voila! Now, all that is left to do is to sport your chic DIY face mask on your next snack run. Stay safe and cute out there ladies. You’ve got this!
