The 23rd South African Music Awards took place at Sun City’s Superbowl on Saturday night and the red carpet was buzzing. From K Naomi’s ice-blue gown (that would even give Frozen‘s Elsa a run for her money) to Pearl Thusi’s bedazzled ‘naked’ dress (and her daughter’s guest appearance), our local stars did not fail to impress in the style department.
Here’s who made the #COSMOFashion team’s best-dressed list:
1. Kelly Khumalo
You couldn’t miss Kelly, who was loud and proud in a flamboyant tangerine gown by designer Khothatso Laurence Tsotetsi. We wondered how she was transported to the event – it was definitely worth the grand entrance. ??????.
2. K Naomi Noinyane
Miss K looked regal in an ice-blue, off-the-shoulders Inga Madyibi gown, and she accessorised with her trendy Casio digital watch that we thought was pretty dope.✌?
3. Bonang Matheba
Bonang was a Rapunzel-like vision in a fiery-red, one-shoulder creation by Orapeleng Modutle.
4. Boity Thulo
Boity went for a more modern take on her red-carpet look in a slick printed Antherline Couture blazer and Zara pants. Yas, girl.??
5. Nandi Madida
Nandi wore a high-shine gown with intricate details, including ostrich feathers, tassels and embroidery, by Scalo by Sello Medupe.
6. Kim Jayde
Kim was trendy in a velvet dress, complete with mesh panelling and a mermaid tail by Quiteria & George.
7. Pearl Thusi
It simply wouldn’t be a style showdown without at least one celeb owning it in a ‘naked’ dress– and we applaud Pearl for her winning version that was as sophisticated as it was sexy.
How cute are her and her daughter, Thando???
Luthando was fierce in a black leather gown with a plunging neckline and thigh slit.???
9. Nomzamo Mbatha
Nomzamo looked like a goddess in a white, long-sleeved number.
10. Lerato Kganyago
Lerato wore a sheer dress with dramatic sleeves and keyhole detail by Quiteria & George.
11. Khanyi Mbau
Miss Mbau also wore a ‘naked’ dress with a strong cleavage game.??
