7 Weird and Insanely Wonderful Looks From Paris Couture Week

From wedding swimsuits to slogan gowns 🤩

It wouldn’t be Paris Couture Week without the weird, wonderful and meticulously created masterpieces that make you say, ‘OH-EM- GEE, is that FO’REAL?!

‘Tis the season for designers to really flex their creative muscles and really show us what they are made of. Outfits are now bigger, bolder and a whole lot more expensive than we seem on ready-to-wear catwalks before. Are you ready for this?

Check out the Most Outrageous Looks to Grace the Runways

1 The Chanel Wedding Swimsuit

Each Chanel couture show finale debuts a new bridal look, which often involves a dress or a pantsuit. So you can only imagine the reaction when this one-piece swimsuit graced the runway against the backdrop of a villa pool. This immediately made us rethink traditional wedding style.

2 Givenchy Gives You Wings

Clare Waight Keller introduced super-sized bows that almost looked like modern angel wings floating down the runway. The bows have a leather finish and include a backpack, just because. What good is couture if it can’t—literally—give you wings, RIGHT?

3 Giambattista Valli Tulle Explosion

Giambattista Valli’s couture collection featured plenty of frothy tulle dresses and girly gowns, more voluminous than ever seen before! It was a celebration of the art of couture itself and the endless hours of work that go into creating each breathtaking gown.

4 Schiaparelli Frills and Feathers

Bright, bold and extremely eye-catching, Schiaparelli’s collection did not disappoint when it came to draaama with eighties-inspired frills and colourful feathers galore. We’re sure at least one of these gowns (or seven) will be seen on the red carpet this awards season for attendees looking to turn heads.

5 The Viktor & Rolf Statement

Viktor & Rolf debuted a collection of slogan gowns that really made a loud statement on the catwalk. The creations had cheeky sayings plastered over them, ‘I’m not shy, I just don’t like you’ and, ‘Sorry I’m late, I didn’t want to come’. Too scared to speak your mind? Let your clothes do the talking for you.

6 The Valentino Naomi Campbell Moment

Valentino’s show ended with a pleasant surprise, a closing walk by none other than suuupermodel, Naomi Campbell. The runway legend made an unexpected appearance on the catwalk, emerging in a show-stopping sheer black gown with voluminous sleeves and a tiered ruffle skirt. #Slay.

7 Iris van Herpen Contour Lines

For the Iris van Herpen collection, the designer looked to advances in DNA engineering and female forms in mythology for inspiration. The voluminous spheres, elaborate waved shapes and laser-cut detailing were inspired by human-animal hybrids. Is it just us – or does it just looked like a really epic 3D map or even a cartoon flower? Either way, we are totally obsessed with her unique creations.
