The X-Factor SA Could Provide Some Idols Relief

X-Factor SA starts in just under two weeks on local screens

The X-Factor SA starts in just under two weeks on local screens, just as Idols SA reaches the business end of its 83rd season, with the announcement of the Top 16. Ok, it’s the 10th season, but it feels like it’s been going on for a lot longer than that.

Singing and talent competitions have done well in South Africa, with the likes of Shell Road to Fame, Project Fame, SA’s got Talent and Idols SA all grabbing the country’s attention in one way or another.

The X Factor South Africa is the latest to join the pile. The franchise was created by the man who stays up at night thinking about new ways to get people to sing on camera – Simon Cowell. He made it a success in the UK, eventually making it global by letting other countries create their own versions.

South Africa, always with the FOMO, finally has one to call her own.

It begins on Saturday the 6th of September at 6pm on SABC 1. Judges include Father Time of music Oskido, songbird Zonke and the man who always looks like he’s emerging from a really good weekend, rocker Arno Carstens. An interesting mix of judges who will mentor the contestants throughout the programme to make them the moderate stars they’re destined to be.

Will you be divorcing Idols for X Factor just from sheer fatigue?
