‘Pandemic proposals’ are a thing now, and there’s a hashtag to prove it

Love is in the (lockdown) air

Like many parts of the world RN, South Africa is currently under lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This means that a lot of people are spending more time than they ever thought they would cooped up indoors, many of them with their significant others. Some couples have been struggling with being around their partners 24/7 (might be time to do some re-evaluating, perhaps?) while others have clearly been feeling loved *the eff* up, because pandemic proposals are a thing now. Welcome to 2020, folks!

Love in the time of lockdown

Sure, a lot of couples have been struggling with only having each other for company during lockdown. But for others, this has reignited something serious, because ‘pandemic proposals’ has become an actual hashtag that’s doing the rounds on social media.

While some of the people may have already had a ring and a plan pre-quarantine, it seems as though the stress of these current times has made them realise that they want to be with their S.O. forever.

My people! I got engaged to my partner and soulmate! ♥️👰🏽🤵🏾❤️ My hair wasn't done and cried my face to all the puffiness there was! 😭😭😭😭 He thinks he is not romantic and couldn't propose exactly as he wanted with THAT RONA tryna catch folk but he surely made it romantic nonetheless! My ❤️ is full and spirit is lifted in this time of uncertainty and worry. Yes, I am not working as I would like. Yes, I'm at the house occupying myself in various ways. As I try not to cook all the food in the fridge and watch all the shows on my Firestick📺, I choose to smile and have joy. Not just bc of my 💍engagement but for the life and love that I have at this moment! Call family, video call friends, research your business and expand your skills, tap into you creative/artistic self, meditate, stretch and do yoga, read a book, learn something new online, deep clean your home, workout, rearrange some furniture, dance, write poetry, the list goes on! Look out for more various content and I reach in my brain and pull things out for my social media fam 🤔💪🏾🙋🏾‍♀️🙌🏽🤩🔥 Don't let That Rona hold you down! Let it be a time to build up your mind, body, and spirit!

Strange? Yes. But these are strange times. Hopefully they will get to have the weddings of their dreams in the not-too-distant future.
