Nonhlanhla Soldaat and Hector Mkansi our South Africa’s favourite couple, after their #KFCProposal, went viral earlier this month. And now the fast-food joint has announced that the couple have set a wedding date.

The two are planning to get married on New Year’s Eve, 31 December:

The #StreetwiseWedding will be planned by Precious Thamaga of Precious Celebrations, as she announced on Twitter:

In a video, captured by Twitter user Kateka Malobol, that has since gone viral, a man proposes to a woman inside KFC at Evaton Mall in Evaton, Gauteng, and the restaurant then took to Twitter to try and find the couple:

Within a couple of hours, South Africa became obsessed with the proposal and found the couple.

A MC who spoke to the couple said, ‘He’d like to have a small event to celebrate his wife but budget is tight. We need a venue, dress, suit, cake, and food. I can’t wait to MC this one. Can anyone else help us, please.’

And then TV personality and medical doctor, Sindi van Zyl, put the call out to the public to help them with their wedding:
