After the Whisky and Spirits Live Festival that took place on 6 to 8 November, we’re telling everyone we know to add Johnnie Walker whisky cocktails to their list of things to try this summer.
An Ode to SA
Johnnie Walker is known for bringing a vibrant sense to whisky, and their recently released Johnnie Walker Blue Label Heritage Pack is even more proof of that. The limited-edition bottle design for Johnnie Walker Blue is part of the Nomad Series and celebrates the rare discoveries and rich history of South Africa.

A glimpse into the Whisky and Spirits Live Festival
At the festival, fans got a glimpse and taste of the exclusive limited-edition Johnnie Walker Ghost and Rare Glenury Royal. More than 10 000 people attended the show, and they got to enjoy tastings and were given advice on how to make the perfect cocktail.
Scotland-based Whisky Master, Ewan Gunn, was at the event and said: ‘When it comes to developing a new recipe for a Johnnie Walker, whatever we do is always in the pursuit of flavour – sometimes we have a very clear picture of what we want to achieve when we begin. Then at other times, it is the process of experimentation that opens new flavour routes.’
Johnnie Walker cocktails burst with flavour
The brand is known for its unique blends and tasting notes, which burst with flavour – and when you add the right ingredients to the mix, you’re in for one of the best cocktails ever.
The House of Walker cocktails have sweet, bitter and spicy notes. These cocktails are so easy to make, you might even consider yourself a mixologist (a girl can dream).

The Whisky Sour
Kick off the season with refreshing whisky-based cocktails like The Whisky Sour. Just shake Johnnie Walker Blue, pour lemon juice, sugar syrup and egg white over ice, then dry-shake and strain into a tumbler filled with cubed ice – yum!
For an amazingly smooth cocktail, opt for The Grocer. Shake Johnnie Walker Gold, lemon juice, vanilla syrup and Harrismith apple juice, then strain into an ice-filled tall glass. Top with soda water and orange zest – voilà!
A Taste of Summer
To cool down in the heat, simply shake and double-strain Johnnie Walker Black, pour lemon juice, egg white, black pepper and vanilla syrup into a tumbler, with a dash of Angostura bitters (or bitter lemon tonic) over the top, and garnish with a dehydrated fig. It might require some practice but hey, you’ve got all summer, right?
The Fruity Johnnie Red
If you like your Johnnie Walker cocktails sweet, this one is for you. Pour two tots of Johnnie Walker Red and half a shot of pear syrup into a tall glass over cubed ice. Top up the drink with lemonade and garnish with a slice of pear.
