A Bronx Zoo Visitor Taunted a Lion and Could’ve Died After Jumping Into Its Den in Upsetting Viral Video

The police are now involved, and the Bronx Zoo put out a statement.

  • A lady climbed into the Bronx Zoo lions’ den to taunt a lion, which is obviously a bad move.
  • There’s a video of the whole thing, and now police are getting involved.

In distressing animal news, the Bronx Zoo’s African lions avoided a Harambe death situation over the weekend after a woman jumped into the zoo’s lion enclosure and taunted the lion who approached her. (Bad idea.)

Onlookers took videos as the lady approached and started doing a little dance as the lion looked on. Fortunately for her, the animal didn’t attack and she was able to walk away uninjured, but the police are now involved

CBS New York reports that the police are still searching for the woman in the video, but her recklessness is already making waves online. Some people are even calling her actions a luckier version of what happened to Harambe the gorilla at the Cincinnati Zoo back in 2016.

Since the lion video started making rounds, the Bronx Zoo put out a statement saying this all went down on Saturday and the woman really and truly could have died.

“This action was a serious violation and unlawful trespass that could have resulted in serious injury or death,” a Bronx Zoo spokesperson told CNN. “Barriers and rules are in place to keep both visitors, staff, and animals safe. We have a zero-tolerance policy on trespass and violation of barriers.”

Here’s a handy life tip: Don’t jump into lion enclosures. Like, ever.
