A new video is up on my channel telling the truth about our home! Click the link in my bio to watch now @lydiaemillen Also can we talk about how magical Hague blue looks in my living room, the light in the room framed with the multi dimensional colour is actually incredible. It makes me so happy!
“I have found that fabrics have the biggest impact on a room,” explains Lydia. “With a lot of homeware stores having such a huge focus on interiors at the moment you can find some really beautiful, statement fabrics to layer textures in cosy spaces – from finding the right bedding, softest pillows and cosiest throws, the right fabric can have your room looking and feeling lavish at the best price.”
2. Clear the clutter
“My kitchen/living area is my absolute pride and joy. I really wanted it to be a space that people gravitated to, calm and uncluttered, with a pantry which acts as the ultimate storage facility to ensure that everything is tucked away and out of sight. If your pantry is just a cupboard, making it beautifully organised and creating hand labelled Kilner jars can give any kitchen a higher-end feel. You can buy beautiful jars for a pantry from anywhere, be it IKEA or Neptune.”
3. Less is always more
“I have a very minimalistic approach to interiors when it comes to my home. I like to work with open space and minimal clutter which can be offset with colour. Our master suite has lots of soft neutral tones which provides a relaxing atmosphere – greys, whites and ecru tones are my go-to choices.”
4. Symmetry is key
“A chic four poster bed is the focal point of our bedroom which I’ve paired with a night-stand on either side and topped with a pair of modern chrome lamps. This immediately draws attention and gives a ‘wow’ factor.”
5. Play with texture
“Adding texture to your room with accessories is an easy way of bringing it to life whilst creating a luxury feel. From wallpaper, mouldings, carpets, rugs, throws through to cushions and mirrors they all add a different texture and layer to a room. I played around with textures and found that colours I wouldn’t usually go for, such as dark hues and browns have worked beautifully.”
