The Work Perks Employees Actually Want, Depending on Their Age

Yes to flexible working hours, free snacks and PETS

Seeing as a lot of us spend the majority of our week in work (side note: bleak), it’s important to feel comfortable in your surroundings and to vaguely like what you’re doing.

That said, sometimes while you might not be completely passionate about the actual work, perhaps there are benefits to the job and perks that make it worthwhile. Whether that be free tea and coffee or flexible working hours in the summer, a nice working environment can make all the difference.

A new study from Get Living asked 2,000 workers what they wished their office offered in a bid to make them happier in the workplace and found that people’s idea of a good perk changed as they got older. While those aged 18 to 24 desire unlimited holiday days the most, by 33 to 45 people are most interested in flexible working hours.

Unsurprisingly, one free holiday a year, free dental care and breakfast supplies, as well as free tea and coffee made both lists, the older category of workers valued enhanced pension contributions, while the younger group wished for access to mental health care.
