Intern Your Way To The Top pg3

Hi, nice to meet you, I am the COSMOPOLITAN digital intern – a 20-year-old student at Leeds University in England, trying my hand at working life.

I have one year left of my ‘New Media and Communications’ degree, and then that’s me, done – out into the real world of trying to bag that job that 2 000 other wannabe journalists want.

Nervous? Yes. Excited? Yes. Scared? Nah…. not so much.

Being ‘The Intern’ Once you have gained a spot as an intern, you want to make the most of the opportunity. Swanepoel points out that different companies will expect different things from an intern, but one thing remains essential, and that is a ‘an eagerness to learn, absorb, practice and get stuck in’ alongside ‘a willing, can-do and positive attitude’ will make it hard for the company to forget your hard work and dedication.
