Some days your stress levels reach such crazy proportions, one more thing and something bad’s going to happen. But before you run down the road naked and screaming, here are some simple, clever ways to take a metaphorical chill pill.

Politely request a rant session and, if they agree, let rip. ‘Just the act of venting your feelings and being heard can significantly lower stress levels,’ explains Marlena Ekman, counselling psychologist. Your friend doesn’t need to come up with solutions; the point is simply to express your frustration and annoyance. If they say comforting and reassuring things, so much the better.
