Col'Cacchio Has Launched Their CBD Oil Pizza Range, And We Are Intrigued

Dinner with the family just got a whole lot more exciting.

Step aside truffle oil, there’s a new expensive and slightly mysterious oil in town that we’re putting on our food. Ever since weed was decriminalised in South Africa entrepreneurs have been doing the most to incorporate the stuff into their products. We’ve seen the launch of Durban Poison (a dagga-infused craft beer), Hemp dog treats, Cannacoffee, and now Cal’Cacchio has launched their range of CBD oil-drizzled pizzas.

CBD oil, short for cannabidiol, is the chemical compound of the cannabis plant which has gained popularity for the relaxing effect you get from consuming it. It’s like a chilled out version of smoking weed, except you don’t have to, like, roll a joint or ask a high schooler if you can borrow their bong.

When asked what consuming CBD oil feels like people say it’s not about what you feel, it’s more about what you don’t feel. It’s said to alleviate anxiety, insomnia, stress and muscle pain. Many people take a few drops every day, for these symptoms and just to feel more zen in general. That said, the amount Col’Cacchio is drizzling on is ‘safe’ and you don’t have to worry about getting high AF at the dinner table.

CBD was declared legal in South Africa by the National Department of Health and local CBD brands have been popping up ever since. AfricanPure is one of the leading brands and has partnered up with Col’Cacchio to make this cannabis-infused pizza range.

Kinga Baranowska, the co-founder of Col’Cacchio, states that ‘The pizzas will be drizzled with AfricanPure Cannabidiol (CBD oil) which contains no THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) or synthetic chemicals, making it absolutely safe to enjoy.’

Col’Cacchio has always delivered the goods when it comes to innovative and healthy pizzas. They were one of the first to offer gluten-free, low calorie, Banting and vegan alternatives that actually taste good. Now they’re the first restaurant in South Africa to have a cannabis offering on their menu. You can order one of their gourmet CBD-topped pizzas, the Green Goddess or the Not-So-Plain-Mary Jane, or add the oil to your old favourite for R25.
