So how about this Cape Town spring party with a difference – one where you decide what to listen to and how loud it should be?
Crowdfunding platform City Soirée has teamed up with White Noise SA to bring you a Silent Disco, to be held at Youngblood-Africa art gallery in Bree Street on 17 September. Because, well, why the hell not?
How it works
you need to pledge R135 before 12 September to make the event possible. No fans, no party! A pledge is like buying an early-bird pre-sale ticket – the difference is, you get your money back if not enough fans pledge and the event doesn’t take place.
What your pledge gets you
Each person who pledges automatically gains entrance into the gig. You will get a set of wireless headphones to keep the street noise out and the music in – and you’ll be able to change channels on the headphones and choose the music you want to listen to. Kimon, known for his Natural Selection parties, and Mix n Blend will be on the decks to make sure your toes don’t stop tapping. There’ll also be special playlists curated by City Soirée, created specially to fit any of the activities on offer.
Well, the venue has a first floor … and if enough people pledge, this will be opened. There will be a second dance floor overlooking the DJ booth, a double-sided doodle wall and – for real – a board games area. Because, again, why the hell not. No games will be provided, though, so pack your own Monopoly. The venue also has a top floor – and if at least 250 guests end up on the list, this will become a chill room with couches, so you can rest your weary whatever.
The three phases of ‘ticket sales’ will look like this:
Phase 1 = R135 per pledge. 150 pledges will make the event possible.
Phase 2 = R155 per ticket. If 50 are sold, the first floor of the venue will be opened.
Phase 3 = R175 per ticket. Another 50 tickets and the top floor becomes a lounge area.
Thereafter, tickets will cost R195 – so the earlier you get your hands on them, the better.
