WATCH: Mafikizolo Defends Gugu Khathi Against 'Bad Attitude' Hate

She was apparently nervous about going on stage

The SAMAs took place this past weekend, and if you were glued to your screen like the rest of us you’ll know about that awkward Gugu Khathi moment.

During the awards ceremony, a video clip of Gugu giving hosts Somizi Mhlongo, Dineo Ranaka and Mpho Popps a thumbs-down for a joke they made about Mabala Noise went viral.

Nhlanhla Nciza came to her rescue and defended Gugu against Twitter users who called her ‘rude’ and said she had a ‘bad attitude’.

‘Gugu is an amazing and beautiful woman,’ Nhlanhla said. ‘She is a dear friend of mine and has been a part of the Mafikizolo family for years. Gugu was nervous about going on stage last night – people don’t understand the way she speaks and some people took offence to it.’

The Mafikizolo duo, Nhlanhla Nciza and Theo Kgosinkwe, addressed the claims on a video on social media.

DJ Tira also came to his wife’s defence, saying that she is a great person who doesn’t like negativity. ‘She didn’t like the “rest in peace, Mabala Entertainment” joke,’ he said. ‘She is a great person who doesn’t appreciate negative vibes. Must we be laughing at Mabala now that they’re not focusing on music?’

Good vibes only around Gugu Khathi 🌸✨
