Models took to the catwalk in Shanghai for one of the most anticipated events of the year, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Sure, some of us might watch it to get a first look at what controversial outfit is going to come shashaying down the runway, but the 2017 showcase had us pleasantly surprised. Not only was it the most inclusive and diverse show yet, but the models were also given more relaxed looks when it come to beauty. Here’s what we loved about the hair and makeup.
The standard VC hairstyle are the signature waves – they obviously think they pair well with the jumbo-sized wings. This year, however, they took a more relaxed approach. The curls were just that bit looser – more ‘I woke up like this’ than ‘I sat for hours in a chair having this styled’. Another way things were changed up was that most of the models walked with their hair their natural length rather than having long extensions. Models were also encourages to embrace their natural hair texture. It’s about time!
When it came to the makeup, the shades that were chosen were fairly universal and mostly pink. But before they even sat down to have their makeup done, the models all received an oxygen-infusion facial to make sure that their skin was as hydrated and radiant as possible. Because makeup can conceal and enhance so much.
For 2017 the models were made up to look slightly grittier than in the past, so basically a sexy-naughty combo. This meant that they were all given sultry smoky eyes with highlighter in the corners to make them pop. Two coats of mascara were applied to ensure that lashes were long and bold, and the lips were a gorgeous pink-nude shade. Effortlessly glam. More of this next year, please!
