Marie Claire editor, Aspasia Karras, spoke to photographer and social media star Lesego Legobane, aka Thick Leeyonce, on Cliffcentral, and got her expert tips on looking and feeling good when taking pictures of yourself.
Thick Leeyonce is a 21-year-old politics and law student at Wits University and challenges society’s perception of what is considered beautiful. 1. Good Lighting
Natural light is the best option as it shows off your skin tone beautifully. But if that isn’t an option, position yourself so that the light illuminates your facial features.
2. Good Camera
Play around with different cameras, from your phone to handhelds, for different effects.
3. Good make-up
Wear as much eye shadow and lipstick as you feel comfortable with.
4. Good hair
Don’t be afraid to try a new updo or let your locks loose. You could easily rock a beanie if it makes you feel awesome!
5. And you’re good to go!
Snap as many shots as you like, try different poses and then post it on Instagram or Twitter to show the world how beautiful you are!
