Up Close & Personal with Our #MCE, 'Dr Smile'

‘I would describe myself as someone who values romance…’

By now you should know that Dr Alexander Faizí Rawháni AKA Dr Smile makes our hearts skip a thousand beats.?  But guys, can you blame us? Not only is he a recording artist, a dentist, a lecturer, a model AND a genuinely nice guy, he also runs his own youth programme devoted to children’s education. We got Dr Smile to answer a few questions for us – and believe us when we say you’ll love him a little more after reading his answers.

When was your first heartbreak?
If I remember correctly, it was when I was five years old. I had the biggest crush on a girl at my pre-school, and I knew I wasn’t going to see her again because we were going to different primary schools. Heartbreak #1!

What is the most embarrassing moment you’ve experienced on a date?
Fortunately, I haven’t yet had an embarrassing moment on a date. Don’t plan to, either!

When do you think is the right time for your partner to meet your family?
Before she even becomes your partner. I think the best time for her to be introduced to the family is during your developing friendship. That way, she feels less pressure and can be more her true self. I also think it helps her feel more welcome and part of the family.

What’s your favourite holiday destination? Why?
In all honesty, it’s not so much about the ‘where’ for me as opposed to the ‘with who’. I feel that if you’re with someone you love, whether a partner, family or friends, anywhere will be amazing. One place I truly fell in love with was Puerto Rico. I was exposed to a culture and experiences I had never imagined existed; that’s always exciting for me.

Would you describe yourself as a romantic? What’s the most romantic thing you’ve done for someone?
I would describe myself as someone who values romance, and someone who attempts to be romantic. To know whether I am romantic, you have to actually ask the person on the other side. When I was in Grade 1, I remember giving the girl I liked my school chair bag. Damn romantic, if I say so myself.

If you could write a book about your life, what would the genre and title be?
It would definitely be a comedy/ joke book. I think I’d call it ‘My Plans vs God’s’.

In your opinion, what makes a woman sexy?
That word is not in my vocabulary. I don’t like the connotation, and the unfair pressure it puts on a woman to be accepted as such. I prefer ‘radiant’, ‘elegant’, ‘beautiful’, ‘wonderful’. What makes a woman all of the above? Her confidence in her uniqueness, her ability to inspire me with her efforts to better herself and the community around her, and her smile. Definitely her smile!

The world would be a better place if…
All men knew that the progress and happiness of the world is dependent on their realisation that men and women are equal, and that gender equality, specifically in terms of rights and opportunities, is a vital component for the growth of humanity.

Favourite jam of all time?
The first song that comes to mind is Achy Breaky Heart. I think I was six when it came out!

The perfect Valentine’s Day should include these three things:
-Spending as much time showing those less fortunate, who never had the opportunity to feel loved, what love feels like. (This should be an everyday thing, though!)
-Saying prayers with your loved ones.
-Calling up your dentist and telling them they’re amazing!

I told you, you’d love him more after reading this!? Follow Dr Smile on Twitter @DrSmileLexLeo.
