Know Your Rights with This Free App

You’ll want to download it RN📱

Two South African students have developed a free application that informs users of their basic rights in different circumstances, and we’re so here for it.

LegalMate was created by Jed da Silva and Michael de la Hunt, from the University of Cape Town and University of Witwatersarand respectively, and aims to serve as a source of concise legal information that’ll help users if they’re ever unsure of their rights in numerous situations.

With the help of the app, you’ll learn what cannot be done in the case of arrest during a protest, your rights during roadblocks, how to go about reporting a crime and other general information.

The app couldn’t have come at a better time, given the increased civil action in South Africa, like the mass student #FessMustFall protests and other protests against the government.

Da Silva and De la Hunt have stated that the app does not serve specific situations, but rather a general pool of information.

LegalMate is available for free download on iOS and Android.
