Trends, by their very nature, come and go, some of them sticking around for longer than others (here’s looking at you, bold brows and matte lipstick!). Some of them are relatively normal. Glitter is normal – sometimes we apply more of it to our bodies than other times, depending on what’s en vogue. This shimmery substance experienced a resurgence last year, which is set to continue well into 2018. We’re down with that. But this latest ‘trend’? We’re not so sure.
You want me to put it WHERE?
Pretty Woman, a small company from the US, has started manufacturing and selling capsules that are filled with glitter that are ‘non-toxic’ and are ‘designed’ to be put inside the vagina so that when you orgasm or experience discharge, glitter comes out. You read that right. Passion Dust, as it is called, is basically an extension of the unicorn trend. Because why have normal sex when you can have sparkly sex? The capsule is supposedly best inserted just before a shower so that the outer layer can dissolve, leaving the glitter ready for a shimmering explosion. Or a slow ooze.
*GRAPHIC CONTENT AHEAD. BUT WE KNOW YOU CAN’T HELP YOURSELF*
Now that you are suitably triggered, we ask the most important question…
Is it safe?
While the creators have stated that the glitter is cosmetic-grade, making it ‘safe’ for insertion, they also say that there is always a risk when using it. What are these risks? Developing UTIs or other infections. Because that’s what happens when you put non-dissolving foreign substances up your lady bits. We say, probably not worth it!
While the company is very open about the fact that there are potential risks associated with this product, they still think that they are minimal and that this is going to take off in a major way.
We disagree but hey, you do you, boo.
