Rapper Cardi B announced on Instagram yesterday that she and Migos rapper Offset welcomed their first child together, a daughter. Here’s the official announcement.
She captioned the photo ‘Kulture Kiari Cephus 07/10/18🎀🌸 @offsetyrn‘, which means she’s totally taking after the Kardashian tradition of ‘K’ names, right?
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Cardi talked about how amazing she thought motherhood would be, saying she wanted to make sure her baby was with her at all times, even when she was on tour.
‘I don’t want to miss one second. I don’t want to miss no smiles, I don’t want to miss no new movement, I don’t want the baby to confuse me and the babysitter,’ she said.
When Cardi first announced she was pregnant, she took flak from fans on social media who thought it was too early in her career to take such a huge step. ‘I hate the certain things people say…. Like, “I feel bad for her. Why is she doing that in the height of her career?” and it’s just like, why can’t I have both? Why do I have to choose a baby or a career? Why do I have to be in my mid-30s to have a baby? What am I doing wrong?’ she said in an interview with New York’s Hot 97 radio station.
She also took heat from people who said it wasn’t smart to have a baby with Offset, who has three other children by three different women. She addressed that in that same interview with Rolling Stone. ‘People want to make fun of me, saying I’m the fourth baby mom but I know I’m not having a baby with a shitty-ass man,’ she said.
Offset and Cardi B actually got married back in September, even though they ‘got engaged’ publicly in October.
Cardi’s been joking during her pregnancy about how the baby makes it hard for her to breathe, so congrats on the new baby AND being able to properly breathe again, Cardi!
