All the Signs Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Were Headed for a Split

They were there. They were there. 🙁

Good morning! Everything is fine, except the world ended last night when Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan announced their split after nine years of marriage. You are now reading this from somewhere that isn’t Earth, likely a dark and depressing spacial abyss or something.

Anyway, now that the news is out there, many claim to have known for awhile that the split was coming. For instance, Page Six notes they ‘first heard rumblings’ of a separation around Oscars time, when Jenna attended the Vanity Fair Oscars party with friends instead of with Channing. Jenna called it a ‘girl’s night’ — a ‘Hollywood source’ called it ‘spending more time apart because of the pressure of work.’

PEOPLE notes that wasn’t the only instance of Jenna and Channing not spending significant time together of late. He reportedly wasn’t there when she and their four year-old daughter Everly went to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in March.

‘When People Say “You Guys Have Such a Perfect Life,” I Want to Scream’

That day apart only encouraged the divorce rumours we’re just hearing about now, the magazine says, prompting Channing to post this cute picture of him and his wife together:

That was significant as the couple normally gushes about each other on social media, and this post highlighted that said gushing had lessened a lot recently.

There is this cryptic reference to breathing ‘before it’s gone’ on Jenna’s Instagram (breathing Channing in before he’s gone?), and she shared two text posts that could seemingly reference a difficult time in their relationship.

Life is quick. Breathe, go for it❤️

‘I think up until this point we’ve really grown together’

Going back further than that, some think there’s now reason to believe they were considering separating whenever Jenna did her interview for the February 2018 issue of Health magazine. There was the headline of the piece, for one (Jenna Dewan Tatum Gets Real About Marriage: ‘When People Say “You Guys Have Such a Perfect Life,” I Want to Scream’), and then this bit from the interview itself:

‘I think there are such things as great fits. It is a great fit as long as you are growing together, and I think up until this point we’ve really grown together,’ she writes. ‘Even if one starts to grow, the other catches up and vice versa. But I think a couple needs to be conscious and to want to do the work and be willing to look at the parts of you that need work.’

‘Just two best-friends realising it’s time to take some space’

Jenna continues to say that no marriage is perfect – hers included. ‘Both of us have been pretty aware and willing to do that. We’ve always had the same values. But we’re not perfect! Are you kidding? We fight like other couples, we disagree about things, we have days where we don’t really like each other.’

Fast forward to the end of the world (…again, last night), and Channing and Jenna both maintain ‘there are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision —just two best-friends realising it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible.’

DO WITH IT ALL WHAT YOU WILL. ENJOY THIS NEW, POST-WORLD LIFE.
