In a dream world, we would all have fashion blogger Instagram feeds and receive fancy things for free just for the sake of taking a picture. You might not be a style blogger, but that doesn’t mean your Insta game can’t be strong AF. Whatever cute things you have near you can be turned into an Instagram moment and you can post a pic worthy of ~all~ of the likes. Here are 13 easy-as-hell Instagram ideas for Valentine’s Day that really anyone with a phone can do ???.
1. Spell out a cute word with M&Ms
Whether it’s M&Ms or another kind of sweet (conversation hearts or Chuckles would work too) you’re probably going to be surrounded by a ton of goodies on Valentine’s Day, so take advantage of it. All you have to do is find a flat surface and spell out a word. The key is to make the word big enough so that it’s the center of attention. You also want the background to be visually appealing. Try a solid piece of paper, a kitchen placemat, or even a tablecloth.
2. Take an effortless photo of your flowers.
Flowers are beautiful on their own, they don’t need much help. Hold the bouquet up with one hand in front of you and take a picture, or have a friend take a picture of your hand holding them in the air. Try to find a solid background so the color of the flowers really pop. Otherwise, make sure the flowers are the main focus.
Bonus: A single flower from your bouquet also makes for a really effing cute photo.
3. Take a picture with balloons.
Things that are cute: balloons, you, and the color pink. Whether you’re with a dozen balloons or three balloons, this is a simple shot for your friend (or your mom, or your boyfriend, or your granny) (not sorry) to take of you.
4. Take a Champagne selfie
8. Take a Boomerang for Instagram of you blowing bubble gum while wearing your most Valentine’s-appropriate outfit.
Boomerang for Instagram takes a burst of photos and stitches them together, then plays it forward and backward repeatedly. Take a Boomerang of you blowing bubble gum while wearing all the heart accessories you can find. Don’t have any? Throw on some red lipstick and do it anyway because it’s cute, fun, and different.
9. Take a picture of you and your best friend wearing matching tattoos.
Who’s better than you and your best friend? No one, probably. Show off your matching tattoos, rings, bracelets, or whatever it may be, by holding them flat against a fun surface. If you’re unsure of what your background should be, turn to whatever wrapping paper you have to give the photo extra pop.
10. Take a photo of cupcakes that would make you want to actually eat them.
Food photos feel tricky, but they’re actually easy. If the cupcakes are adorable like the ones above, you just need a good background. Place your cupcakes on something cute that you have available to you like a placemat or tablecloth. Then, take a close-up of one and have the rest in the background. Easy!
11. Take a close-up picture of any fun Valentine’s Day items you have.
Anything you have that is pink and fun and girly makes for a fun Instagram. Grab a nip of alcohol, some candy hearts, sunnies (hearts or no hearts), add in a flower, and you have a chic picture. The key to this is that it should be taken from above so that it’s all lying flat.
12. Take a photo of a lipstick mark on your coffee cup.
Put on your favourite pink or red lipstick, and press your mouth against a coffee lid (a coffee mug works too, but something with a lid is ideal) to leave your mark. Take a picture with with some props placed around it like these candy heart, but make the coffee cup and lipstick mark the centre of attention.
13. Take a selfie of you making your best fish gape face.
Unless you’re Gigi Hadid, doing a good fish gape is hard. So, take a piece of liquorice (a lollipop would work too!) and use that as a tool to help you keep your mouth slightly open without feeling super awkward in the process.
