‘You are beautiful, don’t let the world tell you any less.’

Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi is an inspiration for sure, and we know it! In her recent letter on Instagram, she reiterated the fact that there should be no beauty standards and that every human being is beautiful in their own way.

A video went viral on the TL of a four-year-old girl named Ariyonna, who was having her hair done by US hairstylist, Shabria. The video shows the girl saying ‘I’m so ugly’ before she starts crying and the hairstylist reassures her that she is beautiful.

In response to the heartbreaking video, Zozi wrote a letter on Instagram saying:

‘To Ariyonna and every other little girl who has felt like this..you are beautiful, don’t let the world tell you any less❤ I have had so many interviews where I have been asked “You challenge beauty standards today. What beauty standards do you think we should have?” And I always wonder “why must we have have beauty standards?” With so many beautiful women in the world who look so different from each other, why should we have beauty standards? Beauty is subjective and so in that regard every woman and girl of every race, shape, size and shade is beautiful.

We cannot continue to live in a world that makes young girls feel less about themselves because they are not the ‘standard’. It is our responsibility, collectively to create a healthy world for children because we need them to grow up to be the extraordinary, capable, kind people this world needs to be a better place because honestly right now we are messing up big time. We need them to be healthy and happy because that is what they deserve.

To everyone who has felt like they are different and don’t meet the ‘standard’ know that the “standard” is boring. You are beautiful, capable and enough. @lilwavedaddy you are phenomenal for what you did here. Bless you.’
