- LADY GAGA WON AN OSCAR!!
- She took home Best Original Song with the help of her co-writers, and her reaction was the best.
The 2019 Oscars are fully underway, and Lady Gaga has graciously given us enough life to get us through the end of awards season, but she just went one step further and WON.
For her moving and unparalleled song ‘Shallow’ from A Star Is Born, Lady Gaga received the Academy Award for Best Original Song, which should be more than enough to convince you to see the dang movie if you haven’t already. Seriously, order a copy from Amazon right now and don’t talk to me until you’ve watched it at least four times!
When she went up to accept the award, she said, ‘I love you mom and dad, Bradley….Thank you for believing in us. Thank you so much.’ She added, ‘This is hard work. I’ve worked hard at this for a long time…If you have a dream, fight for it.’ Loves it.

Gaga won it alongside Mark Ronson (who occasionally collabs with Miley Cyrus and Shawn Mendes, casual), Anthony Rossomando, and Andrew Wyatt. They were up against ‘All the Stars’ from Black Panther, ‘I’ll Fight’ from RBG, ‘The Place Where Lost Things Go’ from Mary Poppins Returns, and ‘When a Cowboy Trades His Spurs for Wings’ from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.
Of course, this isn’t Gaga’s only shot at an Oscar tonight. Girl could walk home with Best Actress too, if she manages to come out ahead of Glenn Close, Olivia Colman, Yalitza Aparicio, and Melissa McCarthy.
While this was Gaga’s first feature film, this isn’t her first rodeo/go at acting/major award win. In 2016, she won the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for American Horror Story: Hotel. (She also gets an unofficial award for having to sit through hearing that entire award name before accepting the trophy.)
Honestly, thank the lord Bradley Cooper was apparently the only person who believed in Gaga’s skills, because without him this generation may have never been blessed with arguably the best A Star Is Born remake to date.
