- Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are officially on Instagram.
- Meghan and Harry’s updates will likely no longer come from the Kensington Palace account with Prince William and Kate Middleton news.
Meghan Markle is back on Instagram, y’all! And no, this is not a late, cruel April Fool’s joke courtesy of the palace. As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex prepare to move out of Kensington Palace and into Frogmore Cottage to welcome their baby, they’re getting all their affairs in order. And at the top of their list is making a new couple’s Instagram account.
Just a couple hours ago, an account by the name of @SussexRoyal popped up, and the two wrote:
‘Welcome to our official Instagram; we look forward to sharing the work that drives us, the causes we support, important announcements, and the opportunity to shine a light on key issues. We thank you for your support, and welcome you to @sussexroyal.’ – Harry & Meghan
Along with the personal note, they shared a few snaps from some of their recent events to get their feed going.
While Harry was never one for official social media accounts (he may have had a finsta, though), Meghan used to have an Instagram account all to herself before she and Prince Harry got really serious. In January 2018, she decided to shut it down along with her lifestyle blog, The Tig. She also reportedly had a secret account, but she apparently shut that one down in January of this year “to protect her mental health.”
But just because Meghan used to love sharing her life updates and interests on her personal page doesn’t mean she will now. This joint account will likely look much different and function like the Kensington Palace account, which provides updates on Kate Middleton, Prince William, and their kids.
So, in short, when the time comes for Meghan to give birth, you’re going to want to have notifications turned on for @SussexRoyal.
