Actress and activist, Nomzamo Mbatha moderated and spoke during the Youth Panel at the UN’s Africa Dialogue Series, and the work she has been doing to draw attention to the plight of refugees around the world is so inspirational.
The speakers and panellists at the event included the Deputy Secretary-General of the UN, Amina Mohammed, Bience Gawanas (Special Advisor on Africa to the UN Secretary General), Marieme Jamme (CEO and Founder of I AM THE CODE), and Habibatu Jalloh (Special Advisor and Senior Analyst to New York City Mayor’s Office).
The African Dialogue Series (ADS 2019) took place from 21-23 May 2019 at the UN headquarters in New York City. the theme this year was ‘Towards durable solutions for forcibly displaced persons in Africa’.

The African Dialogue Series is held with the overarching theme: “Towards durable solutions for forcibly displaced persons in Africa”. The proposed theme for the ADS 2019, aligns with the overarching priority theme of the African Union for 2019, entitled: Year of Refugees, Returnees and Internally Displaced Persons: Towards Durable Solutions to Forced Displacement in Africa.
