Nomzamo Mbatha's New Short Film Will Screen at the Durban International Film Fest

She plays a Gqom star searching for her father.

Our hero, actress Nomzamo Mbatha has a starring role in a new short film 2 Grams and A Sunrise which will debut locally at the 2019 Durban International Film Festival.

Nomzamo plays the role of Zee, a faded Gqom artist, who leaves her good life in the suburbs in order to head into the dangerous area of Hillbrow to find her jazz musician father.

She shared the trailer on Instagram with the caption saying that it was first selected for the Festival of Cine Africano (FCAT) in Spain, and now for the Durban International Film Festival.

The film will be screened on 20 July at the Garden Court Hotel, Marine Parade; and 24 July at the KZN Society of the Arts.
