The Ndlovu Youth Choir won the hearts of people around the world when they competed in America’s Got Talent in the past couple of months.
Even the choir did not win the reality show, they still gained lots of fans including judge Simon Cowell who later signed the group.
After a quick trip home to celebrate their achievement in Limpopo, where the choir originates from, before heading to Europe for a short tour.
According to EWN, the Limpopo government donated R1 million to the choir, because of their achievements. Half of the money went to the celebration and welcoming ceremony when they returned home. While the other half went to the choir members ‘to show appreciation for representing Limpopo with pride.’
The group then left for the Netherlands on a short tour where they performed three sold-out shows this weekend.
In a conversation with TshisaLive, the musical director, Ralf Schmitt said, ‘It was a crazy experience. The theatre organisers said that though they had sold out the theatre twice on Sunday, they could have sold it out two more times. There were standing ovations and people just wanted more. It shows that we have a great show and we can’t wait to do it in South Africa.’
