Ever since TV personality Maps Maponyane opened his restaurant ‘Buns Out‘ we’ve watched it grow more and more successful and were waiting with bated breath for it to come to the Cape Town shores. However, Maps announced yesterday that we might have to wait a while as the restaurant is closing ‘indefinitely’.

On Monday night, Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the country will undergo a 21-day lockdown which also means that all restaurants will be closed for the period. This is an attempt to curtail the spread of the COVID-19 within the country.

Maps took to Twitter to explain that even though he tried various avenues to keep his staff employed, they ultimately have to close down indefinitely as they do not know how long the crisis will last.

He said, ‘After trying to stretch out any kind of production including deliveries, in order to still keep our staff employed & customers happy, we’ve decided to indefinitely close Buns Out. We don’t know how long it will be or if we’ll survive this period, but it’s the right thing to do.’

‘It’s tough as a new small business, bt at the end of the day we need to keep everyone safe, & staying operating in any kind of way would completely go against this. Wash your hands often, stay safe & if in any way possible, Stay Home. Pls be considerate & take care of each other.’

We hope that Maps and ‘Buns Out’ gets a second chance soon!
