Local Star Nomzamo Mbatha Bags International Award in LA

We knew she was amazing, and now the whole world does too!

In South Africa we *know* that actress and activist Nomzamo Mbatha is amazing. Now, the whole world does too!

This weekend the Isibaya actress was the recipient of the Goddess Beauty Award at the International Women of Power Awards in Los Angeles. This is a BIG deal! And before you go off thinking that her award is based on her flawless appearance, it’s about a lot more than that (although we are confident she’d bag that award too, TBH).

The organisers of the event are Diaspora Dialogues and the purpose of this event was to ‘honour and celebrate the extraordinary accomplishments of global women who are trailblazers and trendsetters inspiring black girls and women.’ And Nomzamo has a pretty long list of accomplishments, both on and off screen, having been named a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) earlier this year.

After receiving her award, Nomzamo took to social media to show her gratitude. The 28-year-old said ‘And so here she is with dust on her feet knowing both victory and defeat, still standing. Still here. There are moments in my life when I want to pinch myself. Is this real? Is this real? Oh my God… it is. Yesterday I received an International Women of Power Award and I am so grateful and honoured. Thank you to Diaspora Dialogues for my Goddess Beauty Award.’

We might be biased, but we think she is the worthiest of winners!
