Liam Payne and Cheryl Cole Are Expecting — and 1D Fans Are Freaking Out

Another One Direction baby is reportedly on the way.

The boys of One Direction have done a lot of growing up since their X-Factor days — so much so that Liam Payne is now reportedly expecting his first child with Cheryl Cole, his longtime girlfriend and one of the former judges on the show when he first auditioned at 14 years old.

Following months of rumours that the couple might have a tiny future music superstar on the way, newly released photos of the pair reveal that Cheryl is most definitely rocking a baby bump. While attending the St James Christmas Carol Concert in London on Tuesday, the former Girls Aloud singer wore a form-fitting sweater dress that hugged every curve, and which also appeared to be her method of confirming a baby is on the way.

While neither of the British pop stars have responded to any requests for comment on the matter, E! News reports that sources close to the couple confirm they’re expecting and that Cheryl is already in her second trimester.

But while Liam and Cheryl couldn’t look happier, not everyone seems to share in their excitement. As longtime 1D fans know, Liam and Cheryl’s relationship had a somewhat scandalous beginning: The latter was 25 years old, married, and a judge on The X-Factor U.K. when Liam first auditioned on the show at age 14. (He later auditioned again a couple years later, which is how the world ended up with 1D.) During the 2008 audition, Liam even winked at Cheryl in the middle of his performance!

‘I like you,’ she’d said after his audition. ‘I think you’re really cute. I think you’ve got charisma.’

As a result, many fans aren’t taking to the news very well — and the fandom is more or less having a meltdown on social media.
