- Kim Kardashian opened up about paparazzi trying to get up-skirt pics of her in the early aughts during her episode of E! True Hollywood Story.
- Kim says Paris Hilton helped her navigate the situation, which you can check out in the video below.
Most major celebrities literally can’t go anywhere without being photographed by paparazzi eager to get ~exclusive pics~ of them, IDK, grocery shopping or whatever. But here’s the thing: If you think paps are invasive now, it’s literally nothing compared to what was going on in the early aughts. During the heyday of Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, and Kim Kardashian, it was standard for paps to be full-on predatory—even lying down on the ground to get photos up celebrity skirts. Which we can all agree is completely horrible, right? Right.
And Kim Kardashian just opened up about how paps tried to pull that move on her—but, thanks to Paris Hilton, never succeeded. During her episode of E! True Hollywood Story (which airs Sunday but is already available to watch on YouTube), Kim said Paris was there for her as she navigated early fame and an insanely intrusive spotlight.
‘I remember we were sitting in her SLR Mercedes,’ Kim said. ‘And the doors flip up this way. And at that point, the paparazzi would lie on the ground to try and get a picture of you, up your dress, and she said, ‘”Okay. We need to make sure you don’t give them that.”‘
If you hit play on the clip above, you’ll see just how awful the paps were at the time: Kim can be seen trying to get out of Paris’s car, when a pap says, ‘So you don’t want anybody to see your p*ssy.’ Like…WHAT THE HELL?
Clearly, it was good Kim had Paris around—and as she says: ‘[Paris] was such a great mentor for me. I really am grateful for my experiences with her…She’s a huge, huge reason of my success.’
