WATCH: Meet the winner of Idols SA season 15



Since the days when Heinz Winckler walked away with the crown, Idols SA has been apart of the culture. And now, the show has awarded its 15th winner – Luyolo Yiba. With over 186 million votes cast, it was a tightly-contested competition, which had Luyolo winning over Sneziey Msomi from KwaZulu Natal.

The finale took place at Big Top Arena in Carnival City last night.

Luyolo is 24-years-old and a software developer who auditioned for the competition in Cape Town. He is originally from King William’s Town in the Eastern Cape.

His prizes include a recording deal from Gallo Records, R1 million cash, a Ford Fiesta, as well as other prizes from sponsors which include Telkom, Ford, Old Mutual, Truworths and Yamaha.

Before the winner was announced, Luyolo performed Green Light by John Legend with the Mzansi Gay Choir, and Sneziey performed Burnout by Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse. They also performed a duet to the song, You are the Reason by Leona Lewis and Calum Scott.

The event also boasted performances by some of Mzansi’s finest such as DJ Zinhle, Samthing Soweto, Boity, Vusi Nova, Sho Majozi and Season 14, Idols SA winner, Yanga.

Boity, in particular, was very excited about performing at the event, writing on Instagram, ‘We did it!!!! I used to visualize myself performing on the Idols stage. This was before I even ventured into music. Then I get to close the show?! Wild, hey?!’
