Here’s everything you need to know about the second series, from the application process, potential queens and release date. You’re welcome.
How was RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season 2 confirmed?
On 7 November 2019, head judge and the show’s creator RuPaul shared a statement alongside the above ~big reveal~. While confirming a second instalment, he also revealed how happy he was with the reaction to Drag Race UK season 1, commenting, ‘I want to thank the BBC and all our fans for their overwhelming support of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.’
‘This season’s queens proved that Britain’s Got Charisma Uniqueness Nerve and Talent and I want to see more! Here’s to another season of love, laughter and light!’
Kate Phillips, Controller of Entertainment Commissioning, added:
‘The response to the current UK series has been nothing short of dragulous; our viewers have really taken the show and the amazing queens to their hearts. So I’m delighted that Ru and the gang are going to shantay stay. Let the search for the next group of queens begin!’
When will the second series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK air?
Considering the application process time is so tight, we can expect a quick turnaround on the second series, too. So quick, in fact, the BBC is hoping to get a second series out some time in 2020.
‘It’s time to bring back my girls!’ the application form reads. ‘Would Ru believe it, in 2020, we’ll have season 2 of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK! And we’re now on the hunt for the next set of Queens to dazzle us on BBC3 and around the world.’
Who will guest judge the second series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK?
Now, this we don’t yet know, but judging by the talent who featured in the first series, we’re guessing it’s going to be quite spectacular. The likes of Maisie Williams from Game Of Thrones, Jade Thirlwall from Little Mix and an actual Spice Girl (oh hey Geri Halliwell) all made appearances first time round. Can someone give Harry Styles a bell?
Any news on the RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season 2 queens?
Nope, not yet! But judging by the standard of the first series of queens, we’re going to be treated to great things.
