In a classic case of art imitating life, Charlize Theron is going real-life Mad Max in a new reality/game show hitting Netflix this month! The South African-born Oscar winner is producing the show, which will be available for streaming from the 21st of August.
If you were expecting Charlize’s first foray into reality TV to be in some Kardashian-style look at her glamourous life in Hollywood, think again! This badass show is more grease and dust than giant salads and group chats and while I never thought I’d see the day where I’d be setting aside time to watch any drag program other than one featuring RuPaul, here we are.
Hyperdrive features some of the most elite street racers on the road, including South Africa’s own Stacey-Lee May. The show will see these street spinners tackling a hectic obstacle course in some hectic custom cars and tbh it looks pretty addictive.
The Benoni girl in Charlize seems to have been carrying a flame for fast cars for a while! Charlize shared the news on her IG account and Stacey-Lee even got a feature. Oh, to be a backseat driver in this car!

I’ve been wanting to get into the reality/competition TV game for a while and I’m SO excited to present to you a show I’m producing: @hyperdrivenetflix. It’s basically “The Fast and The Furious” meets “American Ninja Warrior” and in my biased opinion it’s pretty badass. AND I got to drift with a fellow South African so that’s a bucket list item i can happily cross off. Check it out on @Netflix August 21! Swipe ➡️ for full trailer
