Once upon a time, a young man named Channing Tatum was starring in soda commercials and walking runways while trying to be an actor. Then, Amanda Bynes made sure he was cast in ‘She’s the Man,’ all that changed, and he said he ‘loves’ her for it.
Earlier this week, Amanda opened up to Paper about basically launching his career.
‘I totally fought for Channing [to get cast in] that movie because he wasn’t famous yet,’ she said. ‘He’d just done a Mountain Dew commercial and I was like, ‘This guy’s a star, every girl will love him!’ But [the producers] were like, ‘He’s so much older than all of you!’ And I was like, ‘It doesn’t matter! Trust me!”
Channing told Entertainment Tonight that he didn’t really know that’s how it all went down, but he’s thankful to Amanda that it did. ‘I love her,’ he said. ‘I guess she sort of told me [that she fought to get me in the movie]. I love her.’
Basically, he had nothing but good words to say about her, even though he also said they haven’t seen each other in years. He’s happy to see her back on the right track.
‘I’m so happy she’s killing it again and just back on the right. She’s so talented and so special. She’s been doing it…I mean, I think it’s so impossible when you start at such a young age to keep perspective. It’s tough,’ he said.
In case you forgot, ‘She’s the Man’ was one of the greatest movies to ever grace theater screens (don’t @ me), and Amanda was sublime in it. Channing agreed, naturally.
‘She was just so alive,’ he said. ‘You never knew what was going to come out her mouth, she was just on fire…I haven’t seen her in so long. I love you, Amanda, and I hope you’re doing well.’
