Celebs Gush Over SA Artist, Nelson Makamo as His Art Debuts on the Cover of Time Magazine

The painting graces the cover of the special issue devoted to #optimism.

Renowned South African visual artist, Nelson Makamo has added yet another accolade to his extensive resume. The 36-year-old artist created a captivating painting of a child’s face entitled “Vision of a limitless future”. The artwork formed part of the two-part cover series for The Art Of Optimism issue. The edition celebrates individuals who are changing the world through their optimism and guest-edited by the AH-MAZING Ava DuVernay. The second cover is graced by legendary actress Cicely Tyson. Can this get any better?!

South African celebs have come through to celebrate the artist’s big win. According to reports, this is Makamo’s first time painting for a cover of a magazine. We love how celebs are coming together to celebrate Makamo’s big win.

He even got a shoutout from President Cyril Ramaphosa and the Minister of Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthethwa.

We are so proud of you, Nelson. Keep slaying!
