There has been a lot of drama surrounding the relationship between gqom musicians Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha over the last couple of years. And now, Moja Love will be releasing a three-part docuseries focusing on the couple called Impilo.
According to City Press, the series will be hosted by rapper and TV personality, Molemo ‘Jub Jub’ Maarohanye.
In a set of interviews, Mampintsha talks about the South African music industry, how people have affairs and that he ‘made’ Babes. ‘When I met Babes, she was nobody and she had nothing. I invested at least R3 million.’
Their tumultuous relationship is also represented with the trailer showing a scene where Babes fights with Mampintsha while asking him for a bank card. She also accuses him of cheating, ‘I am tired of baby-sitting you; you even take pictures with your girlfriends. You are disrespecting me.’ The video also shows Babes hitting both Mampintsha and Jub Jub, while intoxicated.
According to Bokani Moyo, the head of channel at Mojo Love said that Impilo will explore the lives of many celebrities.
‘The doccie shows another side to the couple’s lives and gives insight that has not been revealed on any other media platform. Following the video that went viral, Jub Jub – as a friend of the couple – wanted to clear the air because they felt they had been misunderstood by the public,’ Bokani Moyo said.
The first episode of the series will air on Thursday at 9:30 pm on Moja Love (DStv channel 157.
